This original Evaluation, CCMC 12978-R, was issued in June 20 of 2000. The required 3-year re-evaluation was completed on schedule, extending the current period of coverage to June 20, 2006. The evaluation was undertaken to insure that the manufacturing procedures, testing parameters and safe working values of the Stavebolt device would meet or exceed the requirements of the National Building Code of Canada, the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation, provincial and municipal building officials, designers, architects and engineers, etc. Although the evaluation focussed only on the manufacturing, quality control and performance of the original Standard 2-pin model of the device, it should be noted that there is no significant difference in the manufacturing or testing process from model to model except for the length and/or diameter of the pipe section and the number of stitch-bolt holes. The same traditional performance criteria, as developed by the Canadian Standards Association, was applied by Quaile Engineering, Ltd. to define the Engineering Design Values for all models. The values published in the following CCMC Report (Page 4, Table 1) are for use with the Limit States Design procedures of the 1995 National Building code of Canada and CSA Standard 086-01 for Engineering Design in Wood. These values apply only to the Standard 2-pin model. Allowable working loads in Imperial Units were subsequently converted from the Limit States Values for those designing in the Working Stress method. Please note that a complete listing of the Engineering Design Values (Working Values) for all of the various Stavebolt models is available in both Limit States Values (kN) and Working Stress Values (lbs) format.
